Recap
Doug Jackson Field in Stanwood Friday night played host to an important Class 1A District 4 matchup between West Branch and North Cedar. Not only was it the final game for teach team for positioning for the mythical Cedar County Trophy, in hindsight, Friday night's winner would secure the top spot in the District 4 standings through just two district games.
Fortunately for West Branch, they are now the team at the top of the standings, thanks to a 42-21 victory over the Knights. A fast first-half start by both teams had the game at a close 28-21 at half time. While the Bear offense continued the scoring in the second half, the Knights did not. The West Branch defense shored things up and held North Cedar scoreless and to only 87 second-half yards.
