The Iowa High School Athletic Association late last week officially announced their 2019 Football Hall of Fame class and it includes a former West Branch Bear.

As we announced back in July, Kevin Braddock, a 1992 graduate of West Branch High School, will be part of the 2019 class. Since his playing days, Kevin has joined the Bears coaching staff and is currently the receivers and defensive backs coach.

The on-the-field highlight of Kevin's high school career arguably came in the 1991 state championship game where he ran for 311 yards and scored a total of five touchdowns. That rushing yardage still stands today as a championship game record.

From the IHSAA: "A key contributor on two Class 1A title teams with the Bears, Braddock starred in his senior season of 1991 by earning elite all-state honors as a running back and claiming three championship game records that still stand. Braddock had 311 rushing yards – an all-class title game record – with five total touchdowns, including a 91-yard rushing score, in that 42-13 win over West Bend-Mallard. That capped an unbeaten 1991 season and he became walk-on at the University of Iowa in 1992."

Other inductees include Ed Donovan (Solon), Matt Kroul (Mount Vernon), Tyler Sash (Oskaloosa), Parker Wildeman (Cherokee/Washington), and Joe Woodley (Valley/West Des Moines). These honorees were nominated through their schools, picked by the Football Hall of Fame selection committee, and approved by the state's Board of Control.

The induction of the 2019 Hall of Fame class will occur on November 22nd during the Class 4A State Championship game.
