West Branch High School senior Matt McIlrath has earned Academic All-State honors for his outstanding academic achievements this school year.

The award, given by the Iowa Football Coaches Association, honors student athletes who not only excel on the field but off it as well.

McIlrath, who played linebacker and center for the Bears this past season, joins 12 other former West Branch Football players who have received the award.
