Bear Jeff Bowie commits to the University of Iowa
The West Branch junior has committed to the Hawkeyes

Saturday afternoon, current West Branch Bear Jeff Bowie announced that he is committing to the University of Iowa to play football for the Hawkeyes.

Over the past year, the 6'5 junior has received nine scholarship offers from universities around the country:
- Northern Illinois University
- Iowa State University
- University of Nebraska
- University of Minnesota
- Virginia Tech
- Vanderbilt
- University of Iowa
- Indiana University
- Kansas State University
During the 2019 season, Bowie played right tackle and defensive end. On the defensive side, he racked up 44.5 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
Bowie joins a list of seven other West Branch football players to join the University of Iowa and play football. Warren Pierce played in the late 1940s/early 1950s; Pat Foster played in the 1960s; Ray Fountain entered in 1981; Marv Cook joined in 1984; Kevin Braddock joined in 1992; Ryan Deets joined in 2004; and Bo Bower joined in 2013; and Jacob Giese joined in 2015.
