The calendar has now rolled over to August and that means it is nearly time for the football season to kick off. Prior to the Bears' season-opener against Lisbon on August 26th, there are a few preseason events taking place.

Camp and Practice

The Iowa High School Athletic Association-allowed week of football camp began this week on Monday, August 1st. While the week of camp isn't classified as official practice, it is the players' and coaches' first official time together on the field for the 2022 season. Camp will take place through this week and official practice begins on Monday, August 8th.

West Branch Football Media Day

The morning of August 13 will be the annual West Branch Football Media Day. Starting at 8am at the Little Rose Bowl, the team will take team and individual photos as well as meet with members of the media to talk about the upcoming season. All local outlet media members are invited to attend.

We will be posting video interviews from Media Day throughout that weekend, so be sure to stay tuned for those.

Meet the Teams Night

The annual Meet the Teams Night for the 2022 season will take place Thursday, August 18 at the Little Rose Bowl. Festivities begin at 7:00pm. Schedule of events:

• 7:00 - Intro
• 7:05 - Little Bear Cheer Camp Performance
• 7:15 - Marching Band Performance
• 7:35 - Team Introductions (Volleyball, Cheer, Football, Cross Country, and Swimming)
• 7:50 - Boosters Suite and Parking Spot Auction

For those who cannot attend, Meet the Teams Night will be streamed live on the West Branch All-Sports Boosters Facebook Page and the West Branch Football YouTube channel.

Team Scrimmage

The Varsity and Fresh/Soph squads will scrimmage Tipton again this season after a great get-together last preseason. The scrimmages will occur on Friday, August 19th at the Little Rose Bowl starting at 6:00pm and will serve as the team's final tune-up prior to the season getting started the following Friday.

Season Opener vs Lisbon

The long wait since the Bears' last game on October 29th will finally be over on Friday, August 26th. The Bears will begin their regular season at home against the Lisbon Lions. Kick off is at 7:00pm and the BearCast will have the call live starting with the pregame at 6:30pm.

The Fresh/Soph Bears will kick off their season the evening before on Thursday, August 25th at 6:00pm (also at the Little Rose Bowl).
