The West Branch Community School District and West Branch High School Activities Director Jake Stenberg have today announced they are beginning their search for the next head coach of the football program.

The search follows the resignation of John Nestor, who announced his decision to the team earlier this week. In Nestor's single season with West Branch, he led the Bears to the Class 1A Playoffs and an opening-round road victory against a #1 seed Sigourney-Keota, before falling to eventual state champions, Grundy Center.

“I want to thank Coach Nestor for the time and effort he has put into our kids and football program over the past year." says Activities Director Jake Stenberg. "He made a positive impact on a lot of our kids in a short amount of time. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”

“As we look to hire our next head football coach, we are excited about the future of our program." continues Stenberg. "West Branch has really talented athletes and we are confident that the right leader can help us take our football program to new heights. We are committed to building on our success and finding someone who will continue to develop our student-athletes both on and off the field.”

The Varsity Head Coach position is now open and accepting applications. Interested applicants can visit the school district's website for more information about the opening and how to apply. Please contact Activities Director, Jake Stenberg with any questions by emailing jstenberg@west-branch.k12.ia.us, or by calling 319-643-7216.

The West Branch Football program competes in Class 1A and play its home games at Butch Pedersen Field, also known as the Little Rose Bowl. The Bears have qualified for the state playoffs 32 times, including each of the last 17 years, and have won 21 district titles since 1992.
