Recap
Friday night in Bellevue, the Bears held their district foe, the Comets, scoreless and defeated them 42-0.
The scoring started early and it happened often...
After the opening kickoff, junior running back Luke Lenoch, while breaking multiple tackles, took the Bears' first offensive play 64 yards for a West Branch touchdown. After the team stopped the Comets on their first drive, senior Aaron Barnes did what he did against the Knights and returned the Bellevue punt 75 yards for a touchdown. It was 14-0 West Branch early in the first quarter.
After stopping a couple Bellevue offensive drives, the Bears marched down the field and gave it to Luke Lenoch who ran around the right edge for a three yard touchdown run to put the Bears up 20-0 (after a blocked extra point).
Late in the second quarter, Cooper Koenig showed everyone at the field why he's one of the best track guys in the state. The senior kept the ball on a read option play and rushed around the right edge of the line and was quickly off to the races for a 90 yard touchdown. On the next play, Cooper finds Devin Kindon for a successful 2 point conversion play. 28-0 West Branch late in the first half.
But soon before the half ended, Cooper Koenig threw to a wide open Hunter Wargo who, thanks to a good block from Garret Tucker, and some speed, runs into the endzone for a 32 yard touchdown. 35-0 West Branch at the half.
To start the second half, the Bear defense shut down Bellevue's first drive and got the ball back for the offense. Eight plays later, Luke Lenoch rushes into the endzone from 19 yards out to close out the scoring for the night.
