It is now the first of August and the football season is quickly approaching; we couldn't be more excited.
Prior to the Bears kicking off the 2021 season on August 27th at Lisbon, there are a few key dates and events that help get the season going.
Camp and Practice
The Iowa High School Athletic Association-allowed week of football camp begins this week on Tuesday, August 3rd. While the week of camp isn't classified as official practice, it is the players' and coaches' first official time together on the field for the 2021 season. Camp will take place Tuesday through Friday of this week.
Official practice begins on Monday, August 9th with the team going to full-padded practice on the morning of Saturday, August 14th.
Media Day
The 2021 edition of West Branch Football Media Day will occur on Saturday, August 14th at the Little Rose Bowl. The morning kicks off at 8:00am and will include team and invidual photos, interviews, introductions, and more.
We will be posting all interviews and video through the weekend and following few days, so be sure to stay tuned for those.
Meet the Teams Night
The annual Meet the Teams Night for 2021 will occur on Thursday, August 19th at the Little Rose Bowl. The evening, which includes introductions from all fall-season activities, will begin at 7pm.
If you cannot make it, we will be live streaming audio from the event via the BearCast.
Scrimmage at Tipton
The Varsity and JV squads will be scrimmaging Tipton as a final tune-up before the regular season begins. The scrimmages against the Tigers will occur on Friday, August 20th at Tipton starting at 6pm.
Season Opener at Lisbon
The long wait since October of 2020 will finally be over on Friday, August 27th as the Bears will begin their regular season on the road against the Class A Lisbon Lions. Kick off is at 7:00pm and the BearCast will have the call live starting with the pregame at 6:30pm.
The JV Bears will kick off their season the evening before on Thursday, August 26th at 6:00pm in Lisbon.
