Game Preview: West Branch vs Wilton
Location: Wilton
Date: October 17, 2014
Time: 7:00pm CDT
Game Notes
Wilton faced an uphill climb on many levels this year. Replacing Koy Snider, Tyler Hetzler, Kaleb Schmidt, and Jacob Giese, and former head coach Lance Pedersen, is a lot to ask of any team. The Beavers have played good enough to be in position to still qualify for the playoffs. They will have to defeat both West Branch and North Cedar to do so. QB Javin Drake leads the team in passing and rushing, but has been battling a high ankle sprain. Sophomore RB Bryce Oveson will shoulder a majority of the carries...On the flip side of the coin, West Branch has already qualified for the postseason and first round home field advantage after defeating Wapello 42-0 last week. The Bears can capture a district title and second round home field advantage with a victory tonight...This is West Branch's 22nd playoff berth under head coach Butch Pedersen, and would be its 17th district title during Pedersen's tenure.
Team Records & Rankings
Wilton is 3-4 (2-2 in District 5, Class 1A) and unranked. West Branch is 7-0 (4-0 in District 5) and ranked in the top 5 in all 3 major polls.
Last Meeting
In 2013, the Beavers defeated the Bears 42-28 at West Branch.
