What a game Friday night on the east side of Iowa City. Going in, the whole state knew this was going to be a battle, and the game certainly lived up to the hype. The Iowa City Regina Regals narrowly defeated the West Branch Bears 35-28 to end the Bears' season at 11-1.

On the opening drive of the game, the Regals marched 75+ yards down the field to set up the game's first score and to put them ahead 7-0 with 7:19 left in the quarter. West Branch didn't fret, as they responded back with a long drive of their lown, capped off by a Cooper Koenig 10 yards QB keeper to tie it at 7.

Well, the back and forth has started. The Regals put together another solid drive that ends on a 3 yard TD run to put them back in the lead with 11 seconds left in the quarter.

The Bears had to punt on their next possession but the defense got the ball right back for the offense as Regina fumbled the ball near midfield. The very next play? A 64 yard Luke Lenoch touchdown to knot the game up once again at 14. About two minutes later, the Regals marched their way right down the field once again for another touchdown. 21-14 Regals with 3:58 left in the half.

That 3:58 was plenty of time for West Branch to try and tie the game going into half time. Tie the game they did, thanks to a beautiful pass from Cooper Koenig to Aaron Barnes that went 35 yards for a West Branch touchdown.

On their opening drive of the second half, the Bears couldn't get much going and were forced to punt. A few minute later, the Regals once agian found themselves in the endzone to pull ahead by 7. That was the only score in the 3rd quarter.

On the opening play of the 4th quarter, Cooper Koenig sneaks the ball in from an inch out for the score and to make the game tied once again at 28.

After a Regina punt, the Bears gave it right back as the Regals forced a fumble. A few plays later, Regina put the final score of the night on the board with a 2 yard touchdown run to give them the 35-28 victory.
