Earlier this week, the Bears had an open game on their schedule for week 5 due to their original week 5 opponent, Northeast Goose Lake, having to quarantine due to COVID-19 concerns. However, after much calling around, Activities Director Jake Stenberg got the Bears a game with the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats in Delhi.
Coming into the non-district game, the Bears were looking to continue their streak of good football and improving their record to a winning one as they head into the final two weeks of the regular season. They were up to the challenge and came out hot, scoring 43 first half points in route to a 50-14 victory over the Wildcats. The Bear defense held the Wildcats to just 14 points, a team that averages nearly 30 points per game.
