Game Notes
For the Knights, it has been trial and error thus far in 2015. However, they are ramping up each week. Losing 22-0 in week 1, then 24-17 in week 2, and then 32-27 last week against an undefeated Alburnett team. QB Jacob Holst has thrown for 404 yards on the young season, 206 of those yards came against Alburnett. His top target is no surprise: WR Ian Malaby (12 rec, 198 yards, 2TD) is a big play waiting to happen. He set a state record with 101 receptions in 2014. In the backfield, sophomore Shane Weber is shouldering the load thus far (22 carries, 168 yards). This will be the first trip to the LRB for the Knights since 2012...The Bears are riding high in confidence after a 38-17 road victory against then 2A #4 West Burlington-Notre Dame. RB Luke Lenoch scored 3TD and amassed 203 total yards. Senior DB Aaron Barnes sealed the deal with a 55 yard INT return for a touchdown late in the 4th quarter. QB Cooper Koenig leads Class 1A, District 5 with 510 yards passing, while Lenoch paces the rushing category with 442 yards....The Bears will be wearing special jerseys on Friday night: Red with camouflage stripes. This is to pay tribute to the men and women in the military. Other special features and events will be a part of the evening as well. A BIG thanks goes to Dave and Kathie McIlrath and Brandon Keeler of the Iowa National Guard for helping make this such a special night. Thank you to our service men and women for their every day sacrifices that protect our freedoms and make the USA to be the best and safest country in the world.
