Game Preview: West Branch vs Dike-New Hartford

November 3, 2014 — 6:39am CST

Location: Little Rose Bowl

Date: November 3, 2014

Time: 7:00pm CST

Game Notes

DNH is making their 5th postseason appearance under Head Coach Don Betts, who took over in 2007. RB Trent Johnson rushed for 218 yards and 4TD in the Wolverines' 42-7 opening round victory over Bellevue (WB defeated Bellevue 38-7 in week 5). Johnson, like WB's Luke Lenoch, is just a sophomore. Preston Wheat and Connor Neuroth are two other offensive weapons the Bear defense needs to keep an eye on. QB Connor McCleary seems to have taken over the reigns from Jacob Moore, even though the latter is leading the team in passing yards on the season....The Bears were tested defensively in their first round game, but proved to be a load on offense much like every other game this season. Lenoch is just 22 yards shy of tying Cole Kelly (2009) for the single season rushing yardage record (1,994). QB Lucas Lamont needs 138 to catch Caleb Walter (2005) for the single season passing yardage record (1,625). The Bears will continue to use Sam Aspelmeier, Matt Shawver, Devin Kindon, and Mason Hays to stretch the field. And then thank their offensive line after each play (Jacob Giese, Drew Finnegan, Matt McIlrath, Ryan Grosvenor, and Jon St John).
