Recap

Friday night at the Little Rose Bowl, West Branch hosted Sigourney-Keota for a first round state playoff game.

West Branch's offense couldn't be stopped much of the night as the Bears cruised to a 49-22 victory to advance to the second round.

The Bear offense was once again led by the offensive line and Luke Lenoch. The Sophomore Lenoch racked up 303 rushing yards and became the first player in West Branch Football history to have multiple 300 yards games in a career (first 300+ yard game was earlier this season against North Cedar). In the second quarter, Lenoch broke loose for his second 94 yard rushing touchdown of the season.

Lucas Lamont was 8 of 13 passing on the night, totaling 142 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Lamont's longest completion of the evening was a 46 yard touchdown pass to Mason Hays into the north end zone that put the Bears up 42-14.

On the defensive side of the ball, Senior Matt McIlrath lead the team with eight and a half total tackles, followed by Devin Kindon with seven, Drew Finnegan with six, and Sam Aspelmeier with four and a half (he also had an interception).
