Kevin is a 1993 graduate of West Branch High School. He played on all three state championship West Branch Football teams and was named to the 1st Team All-State Elite Team. He also played in the 1993 Shrine Bowl.

He continued his football career at Waldorf College where he was a team captain and led the defense in interceptions and won two bowl games. Stout finished his football career at St. Ambrose University in Davenport.

His coaching career started at West Branch High School. He also coached at Regina High School with former NFL player and West Branch graduate, Marv Cook, where the coaching staff lead the team to six consecutive state titles.

He is married to Marisa Stout, a 1999 graduate of West Branch High School and they have three kids: Madelyn, Ty and Jase.
