Coming later in the month of August will be a unique West Branch Football themed display at the Rummells Center in downtown West Branch.

Coordinated by several members of the West Branch community, the display will be named “Memories of Oliphant Street Field” and feature artifacts from the long and storied history of West Branch Football. Photos, pendants, trophies, letter jackets, sweaters, and more artifacts will be on display from all eras – from the Fighting Quakers, to the Polar Bears, and to the present day Bears.

Coinciding with the football team's season-opening game, the display opens on Friday, August 26 and will be remain up through the end of the season, available before all home games from 5pm until kickoff at 7pm. The Bears have their annual Throwback Night game on September 9th and this display will be a great thing to visit prior to kickoff.

In addition to the incredible gathering of artifacts, there will be a special display to remember the late Roger Hansen. Hansen, a former head coach of the Bears, passed away in June at the age of 90.

If you or anyone you know has West Branch Football memorabilia or artifacts and would be willing to loan them to the display, please contact Jenny Pedersen at 319-325-4993 for more information.

A big thank you to Jim Lloyd, Kathy McIlrath, Jenny Pedersen, Mike Quinlan, Karen Suchomel, and the Hoover Presidential Foundation for their time and effort in putting this display together; it is going to be very cool to see.
