Over the weekend, West Branch High School senior Beau Cornwell announced that come graduation this May, he will be continuing his education and athletics career at Monmouth College. Located in Illinois, Monmouth is a private school with an enrollment of around 1,000 students.

The three-year starting quarterback for the Bears has also announced that while at Monmouth, he will be playing both football and basketball; two sports he loves and has excelled at while at West Branch.

Throughout my life I've been blessed to be able to play two sports and compete at a high level in each of those. The friendships I've made through the football camp circuit and AAU circuit will last a lifetime. The journey has been tough at times but it has been worth it in the end, and I feel I am a better person because of it.

With that being said, I am very excited and humbled to announce, I will be furthering my education, and football and basketball career at Monmouth College. First and foremost I would like to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches that have helped me along the way. All the early mornings and late nights have definitely paid off. #RollScots #FindAWay

During his time at West Branch, Cornwell threw for 4,317 yards as a three-year starter. However, his sophomore campaign was cut short due to injury in just the second week of the season. Cornwell was also a the Bears' kicker for the past two seasons where he kicked a school-record 16 field goals and made a school-record 11.

Good luck, Beau, with your future endeavors! We look forward to see you continuing to wear red. #OnceABearAlwaysABear
